On February 20, 2010, the 24 Chicago-area branches of First Bank will begin operation as FirstMerit Bank (our acquisition of the First Bank branches is dependent up on completion of the transaction by First Bank and FirstMerit Bank). Throughout this transition, we will remain focused on you.

Key Facts
  • If you were a First Bank customer prior to 12/31/09 you should have received your Welcome Packet – if you have not received this packet please call 1-888-283-2303
  • If you became a First Bank customer after 12/31/09 you should receive your Welcome Packet within the next few weeks
  • If you currently receive monthly statements for your account you will receive a final statement from First Bank through close of business on February 19, 2010
  • Interest rates and maturity dates currently in effect on your deposit accounts will continue as outlined in your account agreement
  • Continue to make your scheduled loan payments
  • All accounts (with the exception of safe deposit boxes) will receive new account numbers
  • Your deposits will continue to be FDIC-insured up to the maximum limits
  • You will receive your FirstMerit Debit Card in the mail – begin using this card on February 20, 2010 at 6:00 a.m. CST

Frequently Asked Questions
What about my Direct Deposits, Automatic Payments and Transfers?
If you currently have direct deposits and/or automatic payments from your account, FirstMerit will request that these automatically be transferred to the FirstMerit system. However, to ensure the change has been made, we would encourage you to notify the parties that initiated the deposit or transfer and provide them with your new account number.
How will I transition to FirstMerit's Online banking?
  • Prior to February 17, 2010, please go to First Bank's Online Banking and make sure your email address is up-to-date
  • On February 19, 2010 at 5 p.m. CST, you will no longer be able to access First Bank's Business Online Banking
  • On February 21, 2010, you will receive an email with your temporary password (the email will contain instructions on how to login to FirstMerit's Online Banking)
  • By February 22, 2010, you will be able to go to www.firstmerit.com/bizlogin and access FirstMerit's Business Online Banking
  • Note to Bill Pay Users:
    • Future dated transactions and biller information will automatically switch over to your FirstMerit bill pay account
    • Your bill pay history will not transfer to your FirstMerit Online Banking history, so please print it prior to February 19, 2010
    • Our bill pay system does not currently offer the ability to pay from multiple accounts; if the checking account we select for your payments is not the account you want used, please call us after our transition weekend (February 20 and 21, 2010) at 1-888-554-4362, option. 3, option 3 to get it switched
